Monica (she/they) is a queer Latine visual artist, strategic communicator, and cultural strategist. A lifelong Chicagoan, Monica has created zines, graphics, illustrations, mixed media posters, and communications strategies supporting youth-led, intergenerational, and intersectional grassroots organizing work in both their city and nationally. As the inaugural Communications Officer at Third Wave Fund between 2017–2023, Monica helped grow the capacity of the organization to amplify the work of Third Wave Fund's grantee partners in accountable and impactful ways. Now entering another inaugural role as the Director of Strategic Communications, Monica leads Third Wave Fund's communications strategy that supports and advances Third Wave's purpose, vision, and values as a by-and-for community and intermediary funder. Outside of work, Monica is a member of Justseeds Artists Cooperative, a decentralized network of visual artists committed to social, environmental, and political engagement.
