The McKenzie Project Inc. is a Black trans-led organization in South Florida that aims to uplift Black transgender and nonbinary individuals ages 18 and up, with a primary focus on Black transgender women who are 18 to 35 years old and are experiencing homelessness and engaging in survival sex work.
The Mobilize Power Fund (November 2021) supported their Breathing While Black and Trans program, a gender justice fashion show and rally.
The Mobilize Power Fund (November 2022) supported a partnership between the McKenzie Project Inc. and TransSOCIAL to bring critical information and resources to South Florida’s trans and gender expansive community in response to anti-trans laws. TransSOCIAL is a trans-led non-profit working to expand safe and affirming resources for our TLGBQ+ community.
The Own Our Power Fund (2023-2025) is providing a two-year grant to support a community-based participatory action research project focused on developing a Reproductive and Gender Justice ecosystem map for Black TGNCNB+ people in both Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
